I have found writing about me very difficult. I would much rather write about one of the characters in my books. I am going to try my best to let you know a little about me and my world, as it is right now. I live in Sapulpa, Oklahoma but I was born in California. I am a retired RN, love adventure and traveling. I spend most of my time now writing on my latest book, which is a historical fiction. I love to read and my favorite author is Diane Gabledon. I think I fell in love with Jamie in the Outlander Series. I prefer fiction to nonfiction with interests in other genres, historical romance, science fiction, and mystery. Those three areas cover a lot of ground.
Being raised in a dysfunctional home, I used reading as an escape mechanism, and it worked most of the time. I could crawl on the bed, and go into a different time and place. I could even be a different person if I wanted. I truly came to love books. I have books that are worn and tattered and not worth five cents, but I can’t part with them. Enough of that.
I am fairly new at writing. I started my book “The Tower” in March and it was published in November. I can say it was a learning experience from the start. I continue to learn all the time, from other people, who have published, or those trying to publish. I guess the bottom line is, I am always learning and hopefully improving my craft.
I want my blog to be someplace that I can go to and write what I feel. Hopefully have some meaningful discussion on writing and everything it entails. This is a new world for me, and I am jumping into it with both feet. Ye Ha

Arthur – You need to explain that the picture you published IS NOT the actual cottage from the movie “The Quiet Man” – but a replica museum, tourist attraction in the village of Cong. The real cottage is a shambles and is situated in a rural area in Maam Cross. There, on private property (owned by a man from the U.S.) the footbridge…stream running beneath, and a pile of rocks – all that’s left of the cottage.
I publish and edit Maureen O’Hara’s official website and have for the past 20 years. http://www.moharamagazine.com There’s also an extension page on Facebook. Just search for “Maureen O’Hara Magazine” .
Thank you so much for letting me know about the cottage. The picture was supplied by WordPress and labeled as such. I had no idea it wasn’t the real one. I love Maureen O’Hara and John Wayne so I will make it a point to visit your magazine. Have a blessed day. Shirley
I can’t part with books either.
And see your dysfunctional home and raise ya.
And good luck with “The Tower.”
Regards,
Dug
Hi Doug, thanks for dropping by. I appreciate your thoughtfulness about my book. Just in case your interested it’s on Amazon.com
. I am thinking because of your statement about my dysfunctional home, you must have had one also. Mine was from alcohol, you know that stuff that has ruined millions of lives. Enough of that. Thanks again for dropping by and I hope to hear from you again. Shirley

You go girl! Started writing in March and published in November? Wow! I’m still learning how to self-edit–from one retired RN to another–yeah for you! Best, BJ
It has been quite a journey and I have certainly learned a lot since then. I’m on my 3rd printing and I’ve made changes with every print. I was told one time your never satisfied with your own writing but you have to get to a point where you just stop. I haven’t got there yet, I guess. Thanks for the visit and come back again anytime. Shirley

Wow I am in total love with her! She is gosh darn beautiful and not to mention a really good actor. I don’t think the show V is all that good, however I watch it anyway just so I can see her. And I don’t know if you’ve ever seen her do an interview but she is also rather funny and it all seems to come so natural for her. I personally never even heard of her before The V, now I’ll watch anything she’s on.
Thank you for dropping by and your welcome back anytime. Shirley
