Sophie, Designer Dog

2Sophie 6 weeksI got a puppy for Christmas as a gift from a family member.  Her name is Sophie. She is the product of two registered dogs. Unfortunately one is Dachshund and the other is Shih Tzu. Mother nature came up with a very unique breed. She has short hair like a Dachshund with long hair patches like the Shih Tzu. She has floppy ears and a turned up tail.  What this darling will look like as a grown dog is anyone’s guess.

I know they have come up with names for some planned designer breeds, such as the Yorkiepoo. I don’t know if they is a fancy name for Sophie’s breed. Maybe a Dachshih or a Dach Tzu. If any one knows what this particular mix  is called, let me know.

How do you feel about designer breed dogs? I for one think they are really just our normal every day mutts. I suppose someone thought if they came up with clever names they could be sold for more money. You know they were pretty smart, because people do buy designer breeds and pay big money for them.

About shirleymclain930

I'm a retired RN enjoying my retirement to the fullest. I liked adventure and travel and making friends. I have 6 dogs and 1 cat. They are like having a house full of three years olds. Now for the rest of the story. My Granddaughter and her husband now live with us and they have 4 dogs and 4 cats along with a giant Flemish Rabbit. My Granddaughter has now added beautiful, Olivia to our household. My fourth Great Grandchild. They are a large part of my life and I can't imagine them not being around. I spend most of my time sitting in front of my computer working on my latest book or talking about Essential Oils. On the personal side, I'm married to a wonderful man who spoils me and I love it. I am very much a country girl. I love living on our 5 acres on Pole Cat Creek watching the deer and other animals occasionally stick their heads out of the trees. It's a fun life.
  • Oh she is gorgeous! Such a cute dog! Personally I don’t agree with designer breeds. I mean, there are so many wonderful dogs that need re-homing, why breed specific ones just to create a new fad? Our dog is a rescue, and I call him a Staffydoodle. He is a cross between a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and a Scottish Border Terrier (we think), and is the most loving animal you could find. I’m sure Sophie will settle in wonderfully and be a fabulous companion for you.

    • I don’t agree with designer dogs either but she was a gift from my cousin. I have found over the years that Mutts are usually the best dogs. I love my dogs and cats and wouldn’t want to be without them. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment. Have a great day.

  • She’s cute as a button. Enjoy that little precious. Mine is a 14 year old basset hound named Daisy Josette, who sleeps beside me as I write.

  • So cute, Shirley!
